Special pickups |
| Most rear sump Fords have a main cap bolt
with a stand-off to support the rear sump style pickups. This stand-off
cannot be used with a main support. The bracket on the pickup needs to
be modified or a special pickup used. Canton offers special pickups for
most popular applications and these are posted under the oil
pan listing. |

Why support my
mains |
| In an effort to reduce costs and save
weight, auto manufacturers started using weaker engine block castings
as early as the late 1970’s. The were able to do this without
problems thanks to increasing smog regulations causing decreased
horsepower ratings. While these blocks hold up just fine when
putting out 220 horsepower, they cannot go racing. A main support
helps to “beef up” your lower end by reinforcing the alignment of
the main caps. The webbing on these blocks has much to be desired
and a main support replaces the missing metal that the auto makers
stole for extra catalytic converters. |

directly tie into the main caps. Our design doesn’t need bushings
or spacers and doesn’t require the main caps to be machined to mount
it. The end result is a girdle that offers more support, is easy to
install, and will clear large strokers. This support is 1/2" thick
and is laser cut out of steel with CNC machined mounting holes,
includes all hardware.

WINDAGE TRAYS FOR
MAIN SUPPORTS |
These Main Support Windage
Trays bolt to the pre-drilled and tapped holes on our main cap
stud supports. These trays keep the windage around the rotating
assembly away from the oil in the sump and the oil in the sump away
from the rotating assembly. Come with mounting bolts. |
