Gasket

When the correct gasket is installed in the proper
way it will not leak. The oil pan is more prone to leaking than any other
part because it holds oil which is being thrown around. That oil will
find a leak if there is one, so extra care needs to be taken when
installing the oil pan.
Install the gasket on the block with some tacky sealant to hold it in
place and use some silicone sealant in the corners if needed. Check the
mounting rails of the pan to make sure they are flat. If a pan has
already been on a block you will need to tap the rails flat. Test
fit the pan on the block then apply a small bead of silicone around
the center of the gasket. Then you can snug the oil pan down. After
silicone has solidified you can bolt down the pan. |

| The Ford oil pan stamping that is used with a
four piece oil pan gasket set is different than the stamping that
is used with the one piece oil pan gasket. The four corners where
the pan turns down to go around the timing cover or the rear main
cap are sharper on the four piece gasket pan than the one piece
style pan. The core that we use has the stamping that is to be
used with a four piece style gasket. These are the gaskets we sell. |
